Cingular Wireless Names Tom DeVito Vice President and General Manager of Cingular Wireless in the Greater New York Metropolitan Area DeVito one of 27 VP/GMs named as part of new leadership team after merger with AT&T Wireless PARAMUS, N.J., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Cingular Wireless has named Tom DeVito as vice president and general manager of Cingular Wireless' New York metropolitan area, which is made up of New York City, Westchester and northern New Jersey and is a part of the company's new Northeast Region. Last week, Cingular Wireless completed its merger with AT&T Wireless. The newly combined company is now the country's biggest wireless provider with more than 46 million customers and has the largest digital voice and data network in the nation. Tom DeVito, formerly vice president of sales for AT&T Wireless in the New York area, will be based in Paramus, New Jersey. In his new role, Mr. DeVito will oversee overall business and financial matters for the designated markets in his region. "Tom has demonstrated exceptional value to the company, and I can think of no better person to manage this territory and lead its success in the future," said Steve Hodges, northeast region president of Cingular Wireless. "He will help make important decisions and execute plans in order to leverage the advantages this merger brings as quickly as possible." Over the last 14 years, DeVito has held various leadership roles at AT&T Wireless including market leadership in the company's Philadelphia region, and responsibility in supply management and real estate as well as finance director of the company's Florida district. Prior to joining the company he held managerial positions at Citizens Federal Bank and American Express. DeVito earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Florida Atlantic University.
