The following table lists unplanned and planned production
outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The
information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) said Oct. 18 it had brought the FCCU
back online at its McKee refinery in Sunray, Texas, after
maintenance work. Valero said Oct. 15 it had taken several
production units down for planned maintenance at its 170,000
barrel-a-day refinery, including the FCCU, No. 2 sulfur recovery
unit and No. 1 reformer. Work on the latter units would last until

344,500 barrel-a-day refinery in Beaumont, Texas.
Tesoro (TSO) said Oct. 12 that it was performing maintenance at
its 120,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Anacortes, Wash. The company
did not specify which units were being worked on or how long the
work would last.
A Flint Hills gasoline production unit shut down at its Corpus
Christi refinery, the privately held company said in a government
filing made public Oct. 12.
BP (BP) said the BP-Husky refinery in Toledo would be operating
at planned rates by Oct. 12 after a month of maintenance work on
the plants FCCU and coker unit compressors, a source familiar with

refinery forced its platform unit #4 offline. The cause of the fire
was being investigated.
Chevron Corp. (CVX) said Oct. 9 that the crude distillation unit
damaged in an August fire at its refinery in Richmond, Calif.,
would be offline through the fourth quarter.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) said Oct. 8 the process of restarting
the crude distillation unit, or CDU, at its refinery in Meraux,
La., is under way. The unit was taken out of service on July 22 due
to a fire at a heat exchanger, the company said at that time.
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) on Oct. 5 said it was performing planned
maintenance at a key gasoline-making fluid catalytic cracking unit,
or FCCU, at its refinery in Billings, Mont. The work would take
several weeks, the company said.

in Rodeo, Calif., was taken down for unplanned maintenance. PSX

under way at the refinery but gave no further details.

barrel-a-day CDU in December, a person familiar with refinery said
on Oct. 5. The unit, part of a $10 billion expansion, was
commissioned in May but shut soon after when an accident resulted
in corrosive chemicals rushing into its piping. The original
restart estimate was sometime in early 2013.
Philadelphia Energy Solutions (PES SUN CG) shut an isomerization
unit at the Girard Point section of its Philadelphia refinery for
mechanical repairs on Oct. 3, a filing to environmental regulators
made public on Oct. 5 said. No further information was
provided.

hydrotreater unit returned to service as planned within the six- to

repairs following a fire on Aug. 2.
Exxon Mobil said Oct. 5 that initial assessments to evaluate the
affected equipment and the investigation into the cause of a fire
on Oct. 3 at its Baytown, Texas, refinery continues. Remaining
plant operations weren't impacted by the fire, but some impact to
operations is expected. The company expects to meet its contractual
agreements. The flexicoker taken off line on Sept. 11 to repair a
heat exchanger leak remains shuttered, the company said on Oct.
5.
Philadelphia Energy Solutions shut a CO boiler and may have
slightly reduced FCCU output, a person familiar with the plant said
