"We stand shoulder to shoulder with our customers, supporting a
vast variety of platforms and systems," said Greg Schmidt, sector vice president and general
manager, Mission Solutions and Readiness division, Northrop Grumman
Technical Services. "One successful example of this effort is our
support to the Army's National Training Center in Fort Irwin, California. Our demonstrated
superior performance on this contract has provided us with keen
insight into the extremely challenging missions that our customers
are undertaking."
In turn, Schmidt continued, the company can develop
highly-innovative solutions to meet warfighting requirements on
programs such as modernization of the HMMWV.
"We're returning the vehicle to its original performance and
payload, while maintaining its current armor protection," said
Schmidt of the company's HMMWV modernization offering. "Our
solution extends the life of the HMMWV, while significantly
lowering maintenance costs and increasing fuel efficiency."
The company will display its HMMWV solution at Association of
the United States Army 2014 symposium Oct.
13-15 at the Washington
Convention Center.
Jeff Palombo, sector vice
president and general manager, Land and Self Protection Systems
division, Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems, highlighted the
company's work on the U.S. Army's UH-60L Black Hawk helicopters,
and other radar and electronic warfare modernization efforts in
support of the Department of Defense and international
customers.
"Our modernization efforts are prolonging the life of the Black
Hawk and keeping warfighters safer by enhancing their situational
awareness," said Palombo.
"Logistics includes supporting existing weapon systems with
new-generation capabilities," Palombo continued. "In many
instances, procuring entire weapon systems to enable today's
technology is cost prohibitive. The ability to enhance subsystem
performance while maintaining the integrity of the weapon system is
a tremendous cost benefit."
