Sibanye-Stillwater Ltd. on Wednesday downgraded production
guidance for its gold operations in South Africa and the platinum
group metals business in the U.S.
The mining company said its South African gold production will
be at the lower end of the 884,000-948,000 ounces range, whereas
all-in sustaining costs would be toward the top of the
$1,690-$1,742 an ounce guidance.
The guidance downgrade has been driven by safety-related
interventions, which resulted in a production loss of around 19,000
ounces.
These interventions also curtailed the company's southern Africa
platinum group metals production by 17,000 ounces. However, the
company reaffirmed previous guidance reflecting strong operational
performance.
For the U.S. PGM business, Sibanye cut guidance to
570,000-580,000 ounces, at an all-in sustaining cost of between
$1,000 and $1,025. The downgrade was driven by a safety
intervention in October and issues relating to the transport
system.
Shares at 1359 GMT were down ZAR0.31, or 0.7%, at ZAR48.35.
