Of the 15 markets that we follow, only one (the Nikkei) is in positive territory. The cumulative average return on the group stands at a loss of 0.739 percent. In Asia, the Nikkei added 0.2 percent to close the session at 13,417.08, helped by gains at Toyota Motor (TM), which added 0.7 percent. TM's gains came in part from a report Wednesday that it's poised to surpass GM in terms of production. Meanwhile, the Hong Kong Hang Seng slipped 0.5 percent. Turning to Europe, the London FTSE 100 has shed 0.62 percent. The French CAC 40 and the German DAX have both dipped 1.2 percent. The December futures contract on sweet crude oil has been trading in a tight range for the past week or so between 60 and 63. Yesterday, the near- dated contract gave back nearly all of Monday's gains and closed near the day's low at 60.66. In early trading today, the contract is back up 0.8% to 61.15.
