Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) announced today that it has agreed to become a title sponsor of "Transforming Texas," a series of 13 half-hour public television programs, produced and developed by the University of Texas System. "Transforming Texas" will look at the key issues facing Texans and highlight the work being done throughout Texas higher education institutions to address these challenges. "With a presence in Texas for over 100 years, and having successfully recruited graduates from universities throughout Texas, ExxonMobil recognizes the significant contribution that the higher education system has made not only to our success in tackling tough energy challenges but to the health, wellbeing and lives of all Texans," said Rex Tillerson, chairman and chief executive officer of ExxonMobil. "I am pleased that we can support this platform to educate Texans about the challenges we face over the coming years and how our higher education system is working to address them. In addition, with nearly 20,000 employees in Texas, the issues being addressed at colleges and universities around the state promise to have a significant and positive impact on the success of ExxonMobil and its people." ExxonMobil's support of "Transforming Texas" continues our long history of working with and supporting the activities and initiatives of colleges and universities, which include joint partnerships, educational grants, our ExxonMobil Foundation's Educational Matching Gift Program, which provided over $6.4 million dollars in donations to schools across Texas in 2005, and a range of other programs to enhance the work being done at educational institutions throughout the state of Texas.
