Business Wire
The Films Business of ExxonMobil Chemical will feature innovative
applications from around the world to demonstrate the versatility
of its Label-Lyte(TM) labelling films at LabelExpo Americas 2006,
Chicago, September 11-14. ExxonMobil Chemical's newest oriented
polypropylene (OPP) films and labelling technology for pressure
sensitive adhesive (PSA), wrap-around, patch, cut and stack, shrink
and in-mold labelling (IML) applications will be on display (Stand
5603). In particular, the company is developing new PSA and
wet-glue patch films aimed at the fast growing milk, beer, wine and
spirits sectors. "We are committed to the labelling business and to
using our unique film technology, including shrink films, special
coatings and metallization, to expand the market," says Denis
Rousseau, Market Segment Group Manager for the Films Business of
ExxonMobil Chemical. "Plastic, especially OPP, provides the ideal
solution for today's 'new look' labelling applications. We continue
to develop our labelling technology and production capacity to
offer the market a wide range of proprietary Label-Lyte films with
superior properties." Latest pressure sensitive films Pressure
sensitive applications using ExxonMobil Chemical's popular
top-coated white, multi-printable, PSA face stock, will be
prominently displayed at the show. The film is particularly
suitable for UV flexo printing, offering excellent printability,
ink adhesion and a greatly reduced risk of ink mottling. Expanded
patch technology Several transparent films for wet-glue patch
applications, using existing patch technology and high solids
glues, will also be on display. These films are used in diverse
labelling applications such as vodka and flavored alcohol-based
beverages, as well as for jams and spices. ExxonMobil Chemical's
next generation of patch films with cold clear glues is targeted to
other market sectors that traditionally use paper labels, such as
milk, beer, wines and spirits. Cost-efficient shrink film The
company has upgraded its Label-Lyte ROSO(TM) (Roll-On-Shrink-On)
films and will display examples of its 40 micron and 30 micron ROSO
film. Aimed at smaller containers with lower stiffness
requirements, ROSO film is one of the most cost-effective forms of
shrink labelling. ExxonMobil Chemical is offering a developmental
40 micron higher-shrink film, which increases on-bottle shrinkage
to approximately 20 percent using an optimized shrink tunnel. Sales
and technical experts from the Films Business of ExxonMobil
Chemical will be at the show to explain the latest Label-Lyte
technology and how to design the optimum solution for flexible
labelling needs. The Films Business of ExxonMobil Chemical is a
