Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) announced today that SeaRiver Maritime, Inc., its marine transportation affiliate in the U.S.A., and International Marine Transportation Limited (IMT), its U.K. based marine affiliate, have been awarded the prestigious 2006 Sword of Honour from the British Safety Council. The Sword of Honour recognizes organizations that have implemented safety systems that are among the best in the world. Only organizations that achieve the maximum rating in the Council's Five Star Health and Safety Management System Audit are eligible to apply. SeaRiver and IMT, both multi-year recipients, were two of only 40 organizations selected this year worldwide. In congratulating both organizations, Mr. David Ballard, Chief Executive of the Council said, �The competition has been fierce, and only after the most careful scrutiny by an outside adjudicator has your organization be chosen.� A message of congratulations to all recipients was also sent by Prime Minister Tony Blair who stated, �These awards recognize the crucial success of these organizations and their employees in their pursuit of excellence in the management of health, safety and environmental matters.� "This recognition highlights yet another year of significant achievement for both SeaRiver and IMT and is based on our continuous efforts to improve performance through the abilities and commitment of our world class workforce, our high operating standards, our use of sound science and our disciplined safety and environmental management systems," said Will Jenkins, director of SeaRiver and IMT.
