Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) said Friday it is working with Microsoft
Corp. (MSFT) to use cloud technology in its Permian Basin
operations.
Exxon said use of Microsoft technology by its XTO Energy
subsidiary is expected to improve capital efficiency and support
Permian production growth.
Exxon said the partnership includes an integrated cloud
environment that collects real-time data from oil field assets
spanning hundreds of miles. Exxon said it will use the data for
drilling optimization, well completions and prioritization of
personnel deployment. Leak detection and repair response times
could be further reduced with access to emissions data, the company
said.
