Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) reported an operational disruption and
above-normal gas emissions at its refinery in Beaumont, Texas.
"A process upset, resulting in emissions from the Thermal
Oxidizer," the refinery said in a statement to the Texas Commission
on Environmental Quality. It said the emissions of sulfur dioxide
and other gases happened Thursday and lasted about five hours.
"The refinery anticipates no impact to production and continues
to meet contractual commitments," Exxon added.
The 362,000-barrel-a-day Beaumont refinery is 90 miles east of
Houston.
