Exxon Mobil Corp. reported excessive gas emissions at its Baytown, Texas, refinery due to some line restrictions in a gas treatment area.

"Loss of amine flow to the Plant Girbotol fuel gas treatment system resulted in elevated sulfur concentration at the blend gas fuel systems," the refinery said in a statement Wednesday night to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. It said that led to above-normal emissions of sulfuric acid, hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide that began Tuesday night and ended Wednesday.

"Operational adjustments were made to stabilize operations and amine flow to fuel gas treatment system was restored to minimize emissions," the refinery said.

The 561,000-barrel-a-day Baytown refinery is 25 miles east of Houston.
