--Exxon Mobil Corp. is suing the European Union to halt the bloc's new windfall tax on oil groups amid a surge in energy prices, the Financial Times reported.

--The U.S. oil and gas corporation's German and Dutch subsidiaries filed a lawsuit on Wednesday at the European General Court in Luxembourg, FT reported.

--Casey Norton, a spokesperson for Exxon, said the windfall tax "would undermine investor confidence, discourage investment and increase reliance on imported energy," FT reported.
