CN (TSX: CNR)(NYSE: CNI) said today members of the Canadian
National Railways Police Association (CNRPA) have ratified a new
collective agreement with the company.
The five-year agreement, effective Jan. 1, 2009, through Dec.
31, 2013, provides wage increases and changes in benefits and work
rules for 75 active CN Police officers across Canada.
Kim Madigan, CN vice-president of Labour Relations, said: "CN is
very pleased that the parties reached an early agreement. The
ability of CN and the CNRPA to conclude and endorse an agreement
quickly reflects a good working relationship and a willingness to
address and resolve issues in a way that benefits both the company
and the union's membership."
Kelly Brown, CNRPA national president, said: "The CNRPA believes
the new agreement, reached prior to the expiry date of the current
collective agreement, underscores the dedication of the parties to
find workable solutions to issues and to take steps to build a
better relationship."
