BRAMPTON, ON, May 28, 2012 /CNW/ - (TSX:L): Thousands of Canadians representing hundreds of communities from coast to coast all vied for a coveted spot in the top 20 of the President's Choice® BBQTown Event in an effort to get a step closer for a chance to win a huge, one of a kind BBQ party for their town as well as a $25,000 donation to the President's Choice® Children's Charity on behalf of their community.

The judging committee faced some tough deliberations, but after careful consideration of a number of factors from voting and creativity of submissions to bringing the event to life, the following communities have been selected as one of the 20 semi-finalists:

To help make your town this year's winner starting today through June 11, go online to www.foodnetwork.ca/pc and vote for one of the twenty semi-finalist communities.  Spread the word and get friends and family to log on and vote for your favourite community! The winner will be announced on June 14. There are also nine secondary prizes to be won that consist of a stop on the President's Choice® BBQTown Tour.

What is the President's Choice® BBQTown Event?

The President's Choice® BBQTown Grand Prize Event for up to 5,000 people is hosted by Chef Tom Filippou, Executive Chef for President's Choice Cooking Schools and host of Food Network Canada's World's Weirdest Restaurants, Bob Blumer. The President's Choice® BBQTown Grand Prize Event means fantastic food, a performance by multi-platinum, JUNO Award winning recording group Hedley, and on behalf of the community, $25,000 will be donated to President's Choice® Children's Charity to support a local nutrition program. To top it all off, members of the winning community will have the chance to set a new World Record for most hamburgers assembled in one hour!
