Athabasca Nuclear Corporation: Appointment of Chief Executive Officer

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Apr 14, 2014) - Athabasca Nuclear Corporation (TSX-VENTURE:ASC) ("Athabasca Nuclear" or the "Corporation") is pleased to announce that it has appointed Ryan Kalt to the position of Chief Executive Officer effective April 14, 2014. Mr. Kalt has served as the Corporation's Chief Executive Officer (Interim) since February 13, 2014 and has been responsible for executive leadership at Athabasca Nuclear during its inaugural drill campaign at the Preston Uranium Project, of which Athabasca Nuclear is the Operator.

Mr. Kalt became a Director of Athabasca Nuclear in early 2012 and was the key individual responsible for the Corporation shifting focus from a gold junior to a uranium-focused exploration company. He was also the individual responsible for the Corporation obtaining its mineral tenure in the Athabasca Basin, including the Corporation's flagship Preston Uranium Property. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Queen's University, a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Ontario and a Masters of Law (Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law) from the University of Calgary. He concurrently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Gold Royalties Corporation, a publicly-traded gold royalty company. Mr. Kalt is a Barrister & Solicitor and an active member of the Law Society of Alberta. He is the largest shareholder of the Corporation holding 9,691,567 common shares of Athabasca Nuclear representing approximately 21.25% of its issued equity.
