Suroco Energy Inc. Announces Appointment of New Chairman

Suroco Energy Inc. (TSX VENTURE:SRN) ("Suroco" or the "Corporation") is pleased
to announce the appointment of Daryl Gilbert as the Chairman of the Board of
Directors of Suroco. Mr. Gilbert, who has been a director of the Corporation
since 2009, has over 35 years of varied experience in the oil and gas industry,
and is currently Managing Director and an Investment Committee Member of JOG
Capital Inc., a provider of equity to junior Canadian oil and gas companies and
is a director of several other energy related public companies, including
AltaGas Ltd., Penn West Petroleum Ltd. and Longview Oil Corp.


The Board of Directors of the Corporation is comprised of Daryl Gilbert,
Alastair Hill, Juan Szabo, Robert R. Hobbs, Dennis Balderston and Marcel
Apeloig.


The Corporation is a Calgary-based junior oil and gas company, which explores
for, develops, produces and sells crude oil, natural gas liquids and natural gas
in Colombia. The Corporation's common shares trade on the TSX Venture Exchange
under the symbol SRN.
