BERLIN--German software maker CompuGroup Medical SE said Friday it is in talks with Agfa-Gavaert NV about a possible acquisition of the Belgian peer.

The maker of software for hospitals and pharmacies said it has given Agfa-Gaevert's board of directors an indicative, non-binding indication of interest for the acquisition of all shares.

"The discussions between the companies are at an early stage" and it is not certain if and at what terms CompuGroup will make an offer, the company said.

Agfa-Gaevert said its board of directors would carefully evaluate CompuGroup's expression of interest with advisors.
