Chapter 25:

http://www.futuresknowledge.com/Education_Center/29.asp

Options on Futures Contracts
-------------------------------------------

What are known as put and call options are traded on most active futures contracts. The principal attraction of buying options is that they make it possible to speculate on increas-ing or decreasing futures prices with a known and limited risk. The most that the buyer of an option can lose is the cost of purchasing the option (known as the option "premium") plus transaction costs.

Options can be most easily understood when call options and put options are considered separately, because they are totally separate and distinct. Buying or selling a call in no way involves a put, and buying or selling a put in no way involves a call.

Commodity Futures Contract Specifications
Each commodity is different. There are even different delivery months of the same commodity. Understanding the futures contract specifications is at the heart of knowing the rules that govern trading a commodity futures contract, as well as the price movement value of each commodity.

../.. Another reason a futures trading speculator may be successful is, he usually specializes in a futures trading commodity. Knowing the ins and outs of a particular futures trading commodity and its industry helps to understand the futures trading market and ultimately when to act. Futures trading speculators are usually classed into three categories; day traders, position traders and scalpers. All three categories act and trade differently than one or another while.

../...
Lets say the stocks get ahead of the futures in price. Arbitrage traders will sell the stock and buy the futures. They end up with the same or or closely related investment but have just made money by taking the difference in the prices from the two separate markets.

Bollinger Bands Strategies : http://www.eioba.com/a12597/bollinger_bands_strategies

and more: http://www.option-trading-guide.com/bollingerbands.html

and: As usual, and for the Bollinger Band theory in particular, it should be noted that individual indicators should not be used on their own, but rather with one or two additional indicators of different types, in order to confirm any signals and prevent false alarms.

NinjaTrader provides you with flexibility to trade with or with a strategy.

NOTE: Advanced Strategy Management (ASM) is not a feature that is included in the NinjaTrader Direct Edition.

What is a strategy?

Before you enter a trade you already know where you are going to place your profit target or targets, where you will set your stop loss and how many contracts you will trade. You may also have rules and conditions for managing your trade such as; once there is 1 point in profit you will move your stop loss to breakeven and once there is 2 points in profit you will move your stop loss to protect 1 point in profit. These rules and conditions make up your personal trade methodology or what we call it, your strategy. In NinjaTrader, a position strategy is a collection of orders that represent your entries, exits, stops and targets along with sub-strategies (auto breakeven, auto chase, auto trail etc...) that govern how these orders are managed. By pre-defining your personal trade strategy in NinjaTrader, you are free to concentrate on the trade and not on the management of orders and positions. NinjaTrader does this all for you automatically.

Do I have to use a strategy?

Absolutely not. NinjaTrader is incredibly flexible in that you can trade independent of a strategy and manually submit and manage all of your own orders? You can also choose to manage a portion of an open position by a strategy and leave another portion to be managed independantly. It's completely up to you?

Advanced Strategy Management Overview
----------------------------------------------

What are the advantages to using strategies?
There are several:

Reduce errors in order management
Speed (orders are submitted and modified at PC speed instead of human speed)
Discipline (less prone to applying 'too much' discretion)
Consistency with your trading
Reduces emotions
