3M Co. (MMM) on Monday said it will reduce its number of business segments to four from five in a realignment aimed at boosting customer focus and productivity at the manufacturing and technology giant.

3M said the realigned segments include safety and industrial, with annual revenue of $12 billion; transportation and electronics, with annual revenue of $10 billion; healthcare, with revenue of $7 billion a year; and consumer, with annual sales of $5 billion.

The St. Paul, Minn., company previous reported segments of industrial, safety and graphics, healthcare, electronics and energy, and consumer.

3M said it will begin reporting its financial results under the new structure starting with the second quarter.
