NEW YORK (Agefi-Dow Jones)--BP et ses partenaires ont approuvé un
nouveau projet de développement du gisement pétrolier
Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Gunashli dans la mer Caspienne, qui
représente un investissement de 6 milliards de dollars, a annoncé
vendredi le goupe pétrolier britannique.
Ce projet comprend une nouvelle plateforme en mer et des
installations destinées à traiter plus de 100.000 barils de pétrole
par jour. La production démarrera en 2023 et devrait s'élever à 300
millions de barils sur la durée du vie du projet, a précisé BP.
Le groupe britannique détient un intérêt de 30,37% dans le complexe
pétrolier Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Gunashli. Socar, le groupe
pétrolier public azerbaïdjanais, possède une participation de 25%.
Les autres partenaires, qui détiennent chacun un intérêt de moins
de 10%, sont Exxon Mobil, Chevron, Inpex, Equinor, le groupe public
turc TPAO, Itochu et l'indien Oil & Gas Natural.
BP et Socar avaient signé un premier accord de partage de la
production pour le champ Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Gunashli en 1994.
En 2017, cet accord a été prolongé jusqu'en 2049.
Plus de 36 milliards de dollars ont été investis dans le
développement de ce champ depuis 1994, a indiqué BP.

BP PLC (BP.LN, BP) and its partners have sanctioned the $6 billion
Azeri Central East project in the giant Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater
Gunashli oil-field complex offshore Azerbaijan, the U.K. oil major
said Friday.
The Caspian Sea project, which includes a new offshore platform and
facilities designed to process up to 100,000 barrels of oil a day,
is expected to achieve its first production in 2023 and to produce
up to 300 million barrels over its lifetime, BP said.
BP operates and has a 30.37% stake in the complex, while
Azerbaijan's state oil company Socar owns 25%. Partners holding
stakes of less than 10% include Chevron Corp. (CVX), Inpex Corp.
(1605.TO), Equinor ASA (EQNR.OS), Exxon Mobil Corp. (XON), Turkey's
state petroleum company TPAO, Itochu Corp. (8001.TO), and India's
Oil & Natural Gas Corp. (500312.BY).
BP and Socar signed an initial Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Gunashli
production-sharing agreement in 1994. The partners reached a deal
in 2017 to extend the agreement to 2049.
BP said more than $36 billion has been invested in development of
the area since the 1994 agreement.
