London-listed shares in Prairie Mining Ltd. (PDZ.AU) surged on
Tuesday after the company noted comments by Poland's Jastrzebska
Spolka Weglowa SA (JSW.WA), or JSW, over a potential deal for coal
assets.
The Polish Press Agency reported on Monday that JSW's Chief
Executive Daniel Ozon said it is working on valuation of Prairie's
Polish coal assets, with the next steps to be announced in
mid-September. JSW had previously told the agency that its options
include acquiring Prairie or individual assets.
Prairie said in its own statement that discussions continue to
be at a preliminary stage.
Shares at 0811 GMT were up 4.50 pence, or 17%, at 31.50
pence.
