BREMBO INAUGURATES NEW NANJING PRODUCTION CENTER
With an investment of 70 million Euros planned, the Group will serve its European customers' plants that produce cars and commercial vehicles in Asia. The center integrates a foundry and 41 production lines between brake discs and braking systems, as well as a research and development center. Nanjing (China), April 25, 2012 The Brembo Group officially opened its new Nanjing manufacturing center today in the presence of Brembo President Alberto Bombassei and representatives of the Italian and Chinese government. With more than ten years in the Chinese market, Brembo has concentrated production activities of the Group into a single area of 95,000 square meters on the outskirts of the city of Nanjing. All stages of the production value chain, from arrival of raw materials to shipment of finished products, have been integrated into the new site for a total planned investment of 70 million euros. The plants employ 850 people (approx. 1000 at full capacity) and, due to the 41 production lines (between brake discs and brake systems) and the foundry, will be able to produce about six million brake discs a year. "It's a great pleasure to inaugurate this new production center in China, a country that represents one of the most promising markets for the future of our Group in Asia, considering the enormous potential of development of the automotive industry," said Bombassei. "This facility represents the commitment of Brembo on the market to meet our international customers and offer a full range of specialized services, from design to production." The Nanjing plant has been designed and built in accordance with the very latest criteria to guarantee quality, efficiency and care for the environment, with a view to minimizing waste and maximizing the recovery of energy.
