Posting of section 429 notices

Offer to close on 5 November 1997

Elegant  announces that valid acceptances  have  now  been
received  in respect of not less than nine-tenths  of  the
ordinary  share  capital of St. James  Beach  ("St.  James
Beach  Shares").   Accordingly,  Elegant  will  apply  the
provisions  of  Sections 428 to 430F of the Companies  Act
1985 to acquire compulsorily all the outstanding St. James
Beach  Shares.  The notices required under Section 429  of
the  Companies  Act 1985 have today been posted  to  those
shareholders of St. James Beach who have not yet  accepted
the Offer.

The Offer will remain open for acceptance until 3.00 pm
on 5 November 1997.
