ISLANDIA, N.Y., Sept. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CA Technologies
(NASDAQ: CA) today announced that CA GigaStor™ 14.1, an OEM
infrastructure management solution from Network Instruments, has
met the requirements of Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level
2+ from the Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSEC).
Common Criteria is an internationally recognized independent
security certification recognized by governments in more than 26
countries, including the United
States. Certification is granted when a Common Criteria
testing laboratory, such as EWA Canada, determines that a product meets a
defined measure of security. The certification addresses product
functionality, development environment, documentation and product
testing measures.
"CA GigaStor joins CA eHealth® Performance Manager and CA
Spectrum® as infrastructure management products certified under the
Common Criteria," said Mike Sargent,
general manager, Service Assurance, CA Technologies. "We are proud
to have teamed with Network Instruments in this initiative. EWA
Canada's certification of CA
GigaStor validates to our customers that the solution has been
through a rigorous evaluation."
"CA Technologies has helped government institutions around the
globe use our GigaStor technology to help ensure the integrity and
performance of critical applications and infrastructure," said
Douglas Smith, president and
co-founder of Network Instruments. "Common Criteria certification
confirms for our large enterprise and government customers that our
solutions meet the stringent security standards necessary to manage
their network resources."
GigaStor is an essential product designed to help safeguard
performance on today's complex networks. Providing extensive data
collection and unique time-based analysis, GigaStor integrates with
CA Technologies solutions to help ensure the application service
integrity, troubleshoot delivery issues, and quickly pinpoint
performance problems.
IT organizations are increasingly held accountable for
application performance across their networks. Yet the combination
of disjointed monitoring tools and after-the-fact troubleshooting
techniques often used can fail to safeguard the performance of
today's complex networks. Time lost while attempting to find
relevant data among disparate utilities can quickly add up to
longer mean time to repair (MTTR), lower IT service levels, and
higher business costs. CA GigaStor provides a solution that is
designed to integrate with CA Application Delivery Analysis
(formerly CA NetQoS SuperAgent) to help troubleshoot application
delivery issues, quickly pinpoint performance issues, and present
diagnostic information through an efficient, repeatable
workflow.
The CA GigaStor evaluation was performed at EWA Canada's Common
Criteria Evaluation Facility. EWA is one of only three labs
approved by the Communications Security Establishment Canada that
meet the Canadian Common Criteria Scheme. These labs conduct IT
security evaluations for conformance to the Common Criteria for
Information Technology Security Evaluation, International Standard
ISO/IEC 15408.
Recent CA Technologies Common Criteria evaluations include CA
Directory r12 sp3, CA ACF2™ r14, CA Top Secret® r14, CA Federation
Manager r12 SP1 deployed on CA SiteMinder*
and CA Identity Manager r12.5.
*CA SiteMinder was formerly named CA SiteMinder Federation
Security Services r12 SP1.
About Common Criteria
The Common Criteria for Information Technology Security
Evaluation (CC) and the companion Common Methodology for
Information Technology Security Evaluation (CEM) are the technical
basis for an international agreement, the Common Criteria
Recognition Agreement (CCRA), which ensures that:
- Products can be evaluated by competent and independent licensed
laboratories so as to determine the fulfillment of particular
security properties, to a certain extent or assurance.
- Supporting documents are used within the Common Criteria
certification process to define how the criteria and evaluation
methods are applied when certifying specific technologies.
- The certification of the security properties of an evaluated
product can be issued by a number of Certificate Authorizing
Schemes, with this certification being based on the result of their
evaluation.
These certificates are recognized by all the signatories of the
CCRA.
