STUDLEY, UK, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Facilities
management company, Romec, has been awarded a special commendation
in the 'Mobile Information Award' category for a paperless
integrated mobile service business project. This was presented at
the Information Management Awards which was held at The Grosvenor
House Hotel in December 2005. The Information Management Awards,
now in their tenth year, recognise excellence and innovation in the
management of business information across Europe. All entries are
subjected to a rigorous examination by 40 independent expert
judges, and winners are selected based on the demonstration of real
business benefits with substantial and measurable ROI resulting
from best practice information management. Established in 1989 as
Royal Mail Engineering and Construction, Romec is now jointly owned
by Royal Mail and Haden Building Management Ltd (part of Balfour
Beatty Group). In 2001 Romec selected Geac's BlueStream solution.
The remit included the provision of a mobile service management
platform to replace disparate service and paper-based systems -
initially to provide ultimate efficiency for its 1000 field
engineers, reduce mobile phone bills and increase customer service.
Once the implementation was complete in 2002 the success spread.
More divisions demanded it and customers started driving new
requirements as did Romec's internal compliance team. In 2004 the
board wanted to 'join up' the entire company to provide a single
view of the enterprise to maximise competitiveness, profitability
and compliance. Through this wide application of BlueStream Romec
has become one of the most advanced users of IT and a leading
player in the facilities management industry. Paul Heron, Business
Manager for BlueStream at Geac, comments: "Romec has transformed
its mobile service management model dramatically in recent years
and fully deserves this commendation. We are proud to have played a
part in the transformation that led to the award and look forward
to working with Romec in the future to support further changes and
efficiency savings." "Geac's BlueStream service management solution
is designed to help increase efficiencies and profitability, plan
and execute effectively, ensure compliance and gain competitive
advantage. Romec is a great example of the best practice which can
be gained through using the solution." Keith Palmer, Romec's Sales
and Marketing Director, concluded: "This entire project has been
revolutionary. Now we all recognise that we have a huge edge on the
competition. No one can match our technological advantage and hence
we're winning many bids because of the excellent service we can
consistently deliver and our ability to measure our performance
against exacting customer standards." About Geac Geac (TSX: GAC,

efforts to manage expenses effectively and maintain profitability;
our ability to achieve revenue from products and services that are
under development; the uncertain effect of the competitive
