Ardent Health (NYSE: ARDT), a leading provider of healthcare in growing midsize urban communities across the U.S., today announced that nine of its facilities earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.

"Ardent’s commitment to providing exceptional, patient-centered care is our top priority, and we are honored that our hospitals have once again received ’A’ grades from The Leapfrog Group," said Ardent President and CEO Marty Bonick. "Our facilities continue to perform above the national average, and this achievement reflects the dedication and expertise of the entire Ardent team, who work tirelessly to ensure safety, quality and compassion in the care we deliver each day."

For fall 2024, 81% of Ardent’s eligible facilities earned an “A” or “B” Hospital Safety Grade compared to 56% of eligible hospitals nationally. The nine Ardent facilities that earned an “A” grade include:

  • Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center (Westwood, New Jersey)
  • Hillcrest Hospital South (Tulsa, Oklahoma)
  • Hillcrest Medical Center (Tulsa, Oklahoma)
  • Portneuf Medical Center (Pocatello, Idaho)
  • Seton Medical Center Harker Heights (Harker Heights, Texas)
  • UT Health Athens (Athens, Texas)
  • UT Health Henderson (Henderson, Texas)
  • UT Health Jacksonville (Jacksonville, Texas)
  • UT Health Tyler (Tyler, Texas)

“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade is a significant accomplishment for Ardent’s facilities,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It reflects enormous dedication to your patients and their families, and your whole community should be proud. I extend my congratulations to Ardent, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for their tireless efforts to put patients first.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
