The Ultimate Finale Twist: Now America has a Vote on 'Survivor'
Cingular Wireless Provides First-Ever Text Message Voting for
America's Favorite Survivor to Win One Million Dollars! ATLANTA,
May 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Cingular Wireless, in partnership with CBS,
has announced the sponsorship of the "America's Tribal Council"
text message voting. For the first time in the show's eight-season
history, America can vote for their favorite Survivor using their
wireless phone and text messaging capabilities or online via
http://www.cbs.com/ . The All-Star that receives the most votes
will be awarded one million dollars. The results of "America's
Tribal Council" will be revealed on a special episode of "Survivor"
on Thursday, May 13 at 8:00 p.m. ET. On last night's series finale,
Amber Brkich was crowned the Sole Survivor and awarded one million
dollars by the seven-member Tribal Council jury. Towards the
conclusion of the show, viewers were surprised with the
announcement of a special twist: the opportunity to text message
their votes to determine one Survivor among all 18 All-Stars that
would receive a second one million dollar cash prize. Recognizing
that all "Survivor" fans would want to have a vote, Cingular has
opened up the text voting to other wireless carriers' subscribers,
making America's Tribal Council voting the largest
carrier-sponsored, text message promotion in partnership with a
reality television series that allows fans to directly participate
in the show's outcome. "Cingular is excited to provide the
first-ever multi-carrier text message voting for Survivor and
create reality-television history," said Marc Lefar, Chief
Marketing Officer, Cingular Wireless. "This event is the first of
its kind and provides a vehicle for all American's to cast a vote
-- whether they are our customers or not." "The 'Survivor' audience
represents the most loyal, passionate and vocal viewers on
television," said Anne O'Grady, Senior Vice President, Marketing
for CBS. "This interactive, audience-driven special rewards
'Survivor' fans with the opportunity to voice their opinion in a
quantifiable fashion. It will be fascinating to see if the popular
vote matches the jury of castaways who determined the 'Survivor:
All Star' winner Sunday night. We are pleased to be working with
Cingular on this very exciting event." Here's how the text message
voting for "America's Tribal Council" works. Participants can
simply send a text message to 26161 with the name of the Survivor
they wish to receive one million dollars. Wireless text messaging
participants can vote as many times as they like during the voting
window. The voting will close at 11:59 p.m. ET on May 12. For true
"Survivor" fanatics, Cingular is also providing downloadable
wireless phone content for Cingular subscribers. Fans can now enjoy
"Survivor" logos and graphics from the show, as well as participant
photos, voice tones and ring tones of the theme song. Cingular
subscribers can download the "Survivor" content directly from their
phone's wireless Internet, or online at
http://www.cingular.com/rings . Cingular is sponsoring the text
message voting and is offering the technology to additional
wireless carriers and their customers. ABOUT CINGULAR WIRELESS
