Cingular Wireless Names Dan Norman Vice President and General Manager of North Florida Norman one of 27 VP/GMs named as part of new leadership team after merger with AT&T Wireless LAKE MARY, Fla., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Cingular Wireless has named Dan Norman as Vice President and General Manager of North Florida, which is part of the company's new Southeast region. The newly combined company is now the country's biggest wireless provider with more than 46 million customers and has the largest digital voice and data network in the nation. In his role as vice president and general manager, Norman will be responsible for Cingular's operations in North Florida. He will oversee all business and financial matters for the region, which now includes AT&T Wireless and Cingular operations. "Dan Norman has demonstrated exceptional leadership in the wireless industry, and I can think of no better person to manage this territory and lead its success in the future," said Steve Sitton, Southeast Region President of Cingular Wireless. "He will help make the important decisions and execute plans that deliver wireless innovation to consumers in this part of the country while leveraging the advantages of the merger." Prior to his current position, Norman served as General Manager for Cingular in Jacksonville, and Vice President and General Manager of Cingular for South Florida. Norman began his wireless career with Motorola in 1976. After Motorola, Norman joined American Bell, AT&T's first unregulated venture. He later served as General Manager of Sales and Distribution in AT&T's Advanced Mobile Phone Service (AMPS) Division, which later became BellSouth Mobility. During his tenure at BellSouth, Norman held various management positions in sales and research and development including Managing Director of BellSouth's Air Call Cellular in London.
