Dell Inc. (DELL) has agreed to acquire information-security company SecureWorks Inc., bolstering its offerings in on-demand information technology services.

Shares edged up 11 cents to $13.80 in recent premarket trading.

The acquisition follows the computer giant's agreement last month to acquire data-storage company Compellent Technologies Inc. (CML) for $820 million. Recent months have seen a flurry of tech-sector buyouts, with much of the activity focused on storage.

Meanwhile, hacking remains a nagging threat to computer network operators such as retailers and other companies, which are often targeted because of their troves of information such as credit card numbers and personal data.

Dell didn't disclose terms of the latest deal, which is expected to close early this year. SecureWorks has more than 2,900 clients worldwide, including many of the largest U.S corporations, it said.
