ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company (EMRE) today announced that SK Corporation, the market leader in Group III lubes production and the largest refiner in Korea by capacity, has selected ExxonMobil's industry-leading MSDW catalyst technology for its Ulsan, South Korea lube plant expansion. SK Corporation made a decision to expand capacity and improve yields at their two Ulsan catalytic lube plants. To accomplish this, SK Corporation selected ExxonMobil's well-proven lubes catalyst and process technologies to replace the existing technologies for the production of all grades of basestocks. With the hydraulic expansion and catalyst fill, SK Corporation expects that the overall capacity of the plant will increase by more than 10 percent of Group II and III production. A successful start-up took place in May 2006. EMRE is the downstream research and engineering arm of Exxon Mobil Corporation, a leading global oil, natural gas, and petrochemicals company whose subsidiaries have operations in nearly 200 countries and territories.
