Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) reported a transformer fire at its refinery in Beaumont, Texas, that led to flaring of emissions and a temporary shutdown of the refinery.

"A transformer fire caused a loss of steam which led to a refinery shutdown," the refinery said in a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. "All contractual obligations are anticipated to be met."

It said the flaring of sulfur dioxide and other gases began Saturday night and ended Sunday night, lasting about 24 hours total.

The 362,000-barrel-a-day Beaumont refinery is located 90 miles east of Houston.
