Airbus SE said Monday that it will supply two H145 helicopters to Exxon Mobil Corp. for use at a liquefied natural gas project in Papua New Guinea.

The helicopters will be based at the Hides gas conditioning plant in Papua New Guinea's Hela province, and will be used to transport personnel and equipment in support of the oil-and-gas company's LNG project, the company said.

The European aircraft maker added that the sale was the first by its helicopter division to Exxon Mobil, as well as the first order of the new H145 model for use in the oil-and-gas sector in the Asia-Pacific region.
