BioPower Operations Corporation ("BioPower" or the "Company") (OTCQB: BOPO), a company focused on developing profitable sustainable solutions focused on the environmentally-friendly bio-conversion of biomass and organic wastes into useful and valuable products, announced today that the Company has brought on globally recognized scientist and accomplished expert in the fields of biomass conversion and commercialization, Dr. Marco A. Baez-Vasquez, as the company's first Chief Scientist & Chief Technology Officer, effective June 24, 2013.

Dr. Baez-Vasquez joins the Company after having tested and verified for commercialization purposes BioPower's patented technology which converts plant biomass, farm and organic wastes into Class A fertilizer, ethanol and other bio-based products. After months of testing and satisfactory test results, Dr. Baez-Vasquez agreed to come on as the Company's Chief Scientist & Chief Technology Officer responsible for managing technology and technological innovation, transfer and sub-licensing, as well as directing partnerships and collaborations.

He brings to the management team extensive operational and technological management experience from various positions held within biotechnology, biopharma, life-sciences, chemical, renewable energy, and agrifood research sectors over the span of his 25 year career. His experience and expertise has been utilized in bringing together innovative partnerships, collaborations and the expansion of international networks among world class companies, academic and research institutions in Europe, the US and Latin America. Among his accolades, he also holds several patents in biofuels, biorefineries, industrial biotechnology and biopharma sectors.

Robert Kohn, CEO of BioPower, stated: "We are thrilled and honored to have Dr. Baez-Vasquez on board. A strong advocate for sustainability, Dr. Baez-Vasquez has developed and successfully led projects across the cellulosic biomass supply chain designed to accelerate biomass commercialization and to expand, at the industrial level, the production of electrical power, advanced biofuels, green chemicals and other value added bio based products. In addition, he has participated in peer review platform programs for the Department of Energy (DOE), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as well as the technology roadmap industrial alliance, along with major energy, oil, chemical and biotechnology companies, targeting the development of cost effective bio-engineering processes."

He continued, "Our one-step enzymatic and fermentation process was thoroughly tested, reviewed and deemed satisfactory by Dr. Baez-Vasquez in June 2013. His acknowledgement and support of our technology and Company further solidifies our waste-reducing and cost saving capabilities as well as our visible opportunity within the renewable bio-based products market. We look forward to working with Marco on communicating this to our target customers, investors and strategic partners in the time ahead."

Dr. Baez-Vasquez commented, "I am pleased to be working at BioPower to provide both the leadership and technical skills necessary for spearheading the development and deployment of their technologies, including their one-step enzymatic and fermentation process that enables the production of high-value bio-based products and next generation biofuels from wastes. With its cost and environmental benefits applicable to multiple large waste-producing industries, the market potential of BioPower's technologies is vast. I'm excited to begin pursuing business opportunities on behalf of the company, and look forward to securing fruitful relationships that result in long-term growth and sustainability for our company and our future customers."

Dr. Marco A. Baez holds a B.S. degree in Biochemical Engineering and an MBA from Monterrey Tech, He was one of two recipients of the International 3H award from the Rotary International-The Rotary Foundation (Evanston, IL) allowing him to earn a MSc. degree in Medical Biochemistry & Nutrition from the University of London, England, and a Ph.D. from King's College London, University of London, England focused on advanced biochemistry, bioengineering and industrial enzymology. He was also the recipient of the American States Organization United Nations Award (Washington, D.C.) to conduct postdoctoral work at prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology MIT. While at MIT Dr. Baez-Vasquez worked in the design of advanced molecular biocatalysts tools using Enzyme Crystals, applying them into chirotechnology of fine chemicals, asymmetric synthesis of biotherapeutic intermediates, "green chemistry" in combination with advanced industrial microbiology, molecular genetics, engineering fermentation technology processes and the use of improved recombinant strains for the production of advanced biofuels, biobased chemicals, specialty enzymes, nutraceuticals, secondary metabolites and microbial biotransformations of high commercial value.
