Isuzu Motors Ltd. (7202.TO) said Friday it is considering various partners for possible tie-ups including German car maker Volkswagen AG (VOW.XE), but no official decision has been made.

The comments came after the Nikkei reported in its Friday morning edition that Isuzu and Volkswagen have begun negotiating a tie-up involving the mutual supply of truck engines and related technologies, a move that could create a formidable force in emerging markets.

The report said the two firms will soon sign a confidentiality agreement and enter into full-scale talks, with an eye toward signing a deal this autumn. Depending on how the negotiations progress, they will also consider acquiring stakes in each other, it said.

But Isuzu said there is no truth to the report that the two companies will start considering mutual shareholding.
