WARSAW--The Polish government is committed to building a new
coal power plant in southern Poland, the country's prime minister
told a conference Thursday.
State-controlled power utility PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA
(PGE.WA) in April canceled plans to expand its power station in the
southern town of Opole, saying that trends in the economy and low
power prices have hit its commercial viability.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Thursday the government will
nevertheless find a way to get the plant built.
