RESTON, Va., July 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- QinetiQ North
America (QNA) today announced its accreditation to evaluate
cloud-based solutions for federal government agencies as a Federal
Risk Authorization and Management Program (FedRAMPSM)
Third Party Assessment Organization (3PAO). The FedRAMP program was
recently established by the General Services Administration (GSA)
to establish a universal framework for federal cloud-based
solutions.
The government-wide program provides a standardized,
cost-effective approach for the federal government to adopt and use
cloud services from commercial providers. In order for a federal
agency to adopt a commercial cloud-based solution, GSA requires
that an accredited 3PAO perform an independent assessment, which is
evaluated by the FedRAMP Joint Authorization Board before cloud
offerings can be implemented in a federal environment.
"It is critical now more than ever to ensure our customers are
adopting cloud solutions that are trustworthy," said JD Crouch,
Chief Executive Officer, QinetiQ North America. "As services are
steadfastly moving to cloud formats, the FedRAMP program is
necessary, and one we are proud to be a part of."
This 3PAO accreditation will enable QNA to help civilian,
defense, intelligence community and commercial customers as they
develop their cloud migration strategy, integrate their existing
cloud offerings and ensure compliance with federal regulations.
"We are excited to be one of the first in our industry to become
a 3PAO," said QinetiQ North America's Chief Information Officer,
John Lambeth. "We look forward to
the opportunity to help our customers achieve their strategic IT
goals while ensuring compliance with federal standards."
