BellSouth Georgia Update - Hurricane Jeanne Impact ATLANTA, Sept.
27 /PRNewswire/ -- Initial reports indicate that BellSouth's
Georgia network is holding up well and the company is responding
quickly to assist customers who have been affected by Hurricane
Jeanne. BellSouth estimates that approximately 30,000 customer
lines are affected due to Hurricane Jeanne, representing less than
1% of BellSouth's approximately 3.7 million access lines in the

it will take to restore service depends upon the availability of
electrical power, BellSouth's access to the affected area and,
ultimately, the extent of physical damage encountered by
