Vivendi SA (VIV.FR) said on Thursday that its supervisory board has appointed Yannick Bollore as chairman, replacing his father Vincent Bollore.

The French media conglomerate said the supervisory board's decision to appoint Yannick Bollore as its chairman had been unanimous. Its board met to vote after the company's annual shareholders' meeting on Thursday.

Prior to the vote, Vincent Bollore had said in the meeting that he would step down as supervisory-board chairman and that he would propose his son as his successor.

Vincent Bollore was named Vivendi's chairman in 2014. Yannick Bollore is currently chairman and chief executive at advertising company Havas.

Shareholders also appointed Michele Reiser as a member of the supervisory board for a four-year period, the company said. It said the terms of office of current members Philippe Benacin, Aliza Jabes, Cathia Lawson-Hall and Katie Stanton have also been renewed for another four years.
