Webuild said Thursday that it has signed a contract worth 1.82 billion euros ($2.02 billion) to build part of high-speed railway project in Italy.

The Italian construction company said it signed the deal with Rete Ferroviaria Italiana for the executive design and work of a so-called construction lot that will be part of a high-speed railway between Verona and Padua.

Webuild said it leads with a 83% stake contractor Iricav Due, which is already working on other lots of the high-speed line. The contractor includes Hitachi Rail STS with a 17% stake, and Lamaro Appalti and Fintecna as minority partners, Webuild said.
