Broca Service Nominated at Mobile Innovation Awards
Broca, the provider of secure advanced messaging technology, announces today that it has been nominated as one of three finalists in the
GSM Association (GSMA) 2009 Mobile Innovation Global Award Competition - APAC Tournament.
Part of their wide suite of patented technology, Broca's SMS-based data capture product, Acquire, was introduced earlier this year and
is recognised by this nomination in the 'Most Innovative Mobile Application in a Vertical Market' category.
Acquire provides a revolutionary method of data capture for sensitive information. The system is the first to use field-based message
formats, using drop-down menus, is encrypted using key-cycling protocols, with flexible message designs and is not dependent on the GPRS
network.
Secure Data Capture is well placed to be a fundamental enabling technology in a number of growing mobile commerce sectors. Broca's
launch of Acquire, with its benefits including a lack of dependence on GPRS, coincides with an explosion in industries such as mobile
gambling in developing regions such as the Far East.
Broca will be presenting its innovative data gathering project to a panel of industry leaders and influencers at the GSMA Mobile Asia
Congress on 18 November 2008, and the winner will be announced at the close of the event on 19 November. Winners in each region will then be
pitted against each other at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February 2009.
Ian Price, MD of Broca, commented, "We're thrilled to be nominated as a finalist in this category. Acquire still is a relatively new
product, but one that has a very bright future, and this recognition by the GSMA is further proof of that.
"It is even more appropriate that this nomination comes as part of the APAC tournament, a region in which Broca has received a great
deal of interest from prospective customers. In an environment where mobile is pervasive, opportunities for Broca's technologies are wide
and varied, particularly around areas such as Macau, in which access to the Internet is limited, but SMS still has a large part to play. We
feel that Broca's technology is well positioned to realise this potential and grow alongside industries such as these."

About Broca plc
Broca plc (AIM: BROC) completed its demerger from 2ergo plc (AIM: RGO) and successfully listed on AIM on 6th March 2007. The Broca
Business is the development and exploitation of technology with the intention of enabling M-commerce to be carried out securely via digital
services, principally by extending conventional SMS messaging from existing mobile telecommunications equipment. The technology is based
upon Broca's innovative, patented Protocol. In addition to the security benefit mentioned above, the Protocol is intended to deliver
confirmation of message receipt by the recipient, something which the Company believes is not currently available to mobile device users in
connection with M-payments. Whilst the initial technology has been optimised for use with SMS, the Company believes the Protocol should
ultimately be applicable to other forms of digital messaging and also E-commerce.
