BellSouth Celebrates Black History Month Celebration includes dynamic speakers, African-American Newspapers exhibit, and musical performances ATLANTA, Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- BellSouth Corporation (NYSE:BLS) is celebrating national Black History Month with a series of events in February to commemorate the numerous contributions made by African-Americans throughout history and to the present day. Led by its employee networking group, the BellSouth Network of African American Telecommunications Professionals (BNAT), BellSouth is celebrating Black History Month with a series of events and activities. "And while we work to promote diversity each and every day of the year, February is one of several months of the year that's set aside as a special time when we're able to highlight the numerous accomplishments made by a particular community -- in this case, African-American," said Adams. BNAT is one of BellSouth's six employee-led networking groups. Employee networking groups are a major component of BellSouth's inclusion strategy. These organizations provide employees with opportunities for personal and career development. At the same time, they enhance the collective understanding of the diverse concerns, perspectives and needs of our employees, communities and marketplace. The five other groups are: BellSouth Women's Networking Alliance, BellSouth Alianza, which focuses on Latino employees, NewANGLE (New Associates Networking for Gay and Lesbian Equality), the Inter-Tribal Council of BellSouth Employees focuses on Native American employees, and PACE (Pan-Asian Council of Employees). Peachtree St. in the Vail Auditorium. The Ben Hill Anointed Voices Choir will also perform. Alexis Scott, publisher - Atlanta Daily World newspaper will discuss "News and history since 1928" on Feb. 17 from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. at 1155 Peachtree St., second floor in the Campanile Auditorium. Atlanta History Center Exhibit on African-American newspapers will be on display. Celeste Jonson of Celeste Jonson International, Inc. speaks Feb. 23 on "D.A.R.E. to Succeed: Continue the Legacy of Greatness" from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at 725 W. Peachtree St. (Midtown II building) Auditorium. Sol Factor Jazz Band will perform. Represent your HBCU (Historically Black College/University) and/or Greek organization affiliation by wearing hats, t-shirts, or other gear. Ike Harris, president - BellSouth Advertising and Publishing Group speaks on "What Black History means to me" on Feb. 28, from 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. at 675 W. Peachtree St. in the Vail Auditorium.
