Star-studded Party Kicks-off Final Phase of Search for Theme Song,
Which Will be Featured in New LeBron James "Sublymonal At Home" Ad
LAS VEGAS, Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- National Basketball Association
(NBA) and Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James and Sprite
will host a star- studded event on February 16th during NBA
All-Star 2007 to announce the initial results of Sprite's
nationwide search for LeBron's theme song. The exclusive event will
be held at Light Nightclub at The Bellagio Resort and will announce
the three finalists whose individual music tracks will be featured
in the new LeBron James "Sublymonal at Home" ad making its
television debut during NBA All-Star 2007. "We have had an
incredible response to the campaign and the tracks are really
great," said LeBron James. "Regardless of who ultimately wins, we
are all going to have a great time at the Sprite 2323 event." From
January 1-22, Sprite and LeBron James challenged fans to mix their
own musical tracks to create the basis for LeBron James' theme
song. More than 2,500 tracks were submitted, and all tracks were
posted at http://www.lebron23-23.com/ so that visitors to the site
could vote on their favorites. An expert panel reviewed the top
vote-getters and selected the 23 best tracks based on specific
criteria. Contest judges, including LeBron James and hip hop
artists Paul Wall and Al Fatz, then selected the top three
submissions to become finalists for the commercial track. During
the Sprite event on February 16 at precisely 11:23PM (PST), LeBron
James will announce the three finalists and debut their musical
tracks with the new "Sublymonal" television spot. All three
versions of the new ad, each showcasing one of the finalist tracks,
will debut on NBA All-Star 2007 television programming on Saturday
night, February 17. Viewers will be prompted to vote on their
favorite track via text message or online at LeBron23-23.com
between February 17 and March 2. The top vote-getter when the
program ends will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join
Paul Wall and Al Fatz in-studio as they fine-tune the music that
will become LeBron's theme song to be included in the final version
of the "Sublymonal at Home" television ad, which will run
throughout 2007. The winning LeBron James theme song will also be
used in future Sprite programs. "Our 'Sublymonal' campaign has
taken advertising to the street and given Sprite drinkers the
chance to put their own musical stamp on the LeBron James
campaign," said John Hackett, senior vice president, Marketing,
Coca-Cola North America. "What better time to celebrate the
collaboration between our Sprite drinkers and LeBron himself than
during the most exciting weekend in sports?" In the "Sublymonal at
Home" ad, LeBron demonstrates his take on the ultimate "Sublymonal"
experience, as he and several buddies engage in a stylized game of
"Lymon Ball" to refresh taste buds with thirst-quenching lymon
pellets. Like previous "Sublymonal" ads, the ad uses distinctive
lemon and lime imagery to reinforce the undeniable refreshment of
Lymon. The new ad was created by Crispin Porter + Bogusky of Miami.
