LOS ANGELES, July 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wes Bush, president and chief operating officer for Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC), has been awarded the Leadership Excellence Award by the Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership at the United States Naval Academy and the Harvard Business Review. Bush is one of five inaugural recipients to receive this award, which recognizes top executives who maintain the highest standards of ethical leadership, encourage employee development, and deliver consistent results at U.S.-based companies. "Wes Bush is most deserving of this Leadership Excellence Award," said Ronald D. Sugar, chairman and chief executive officer for Northrop Grumman. "During his 20 years at the company, he has distinguished himself as an exceptional leader through the delivery of outstanding results, his development of people, his commitment to strong core values and his continued pursuit of the highest ethical standards." As part of the Leadership Excellence Summit, Bush was part of a panel discussion, How Leaders Make a Difference. Along with other Leadership Excellence Award recipients, he discussed the strategic and ethical process of decision making. "The success of an organization truly depends upon ethical leadership, engaging and developing people, and delivering results," said Bush. "I am proud to be part of Northrop Grumman, which is guided by a strong set of values: from taking responsibility for quality and delivering customer satisfaction to acting with integrity and valuing people." In his role as president and chief operating officer, Bush focuses on operations, overseeing the company's performance, competitiveness and growth. His result-driven approach has helped improve the company's performance in a large part through an unyielding focus on process improvement and management. He joined the company in 1987 and has held a series of increasingly responsible roles, including chief financial officer and president of the company's Space Technology sector. Bush oversees and implements high ethical standards across Northrop Grumman through his leadership over its Office of Corporate Responsibility, which focuses on the company's commitment to ethics, diversity and corporate citizenship. The company champions policies of diversity and inclusion by fostering a workplace that makes full use of the contributions of every employee. Northrop Grumman is committed to increasing the number of minority and women students enrolled in science and engineering fields. It also sponsors community outreach programs, which have helped the company increase its hiring of minorities, women and entry-level college graduates. Northrop Grumman Corporation is a $30 billion global defense and technology company whose 120,000 employees provide innovative systems, products, and solutions in information and services, electronics, aerospace and shipbuilding to government and commercial customers worldwide.
