ST. LOUIS, Feb. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Patriot Coal
Corporation (NYSE: PCX) today announced that a highly respected
Mountaineer Guardian Safety Award has been presented to the
Campbell's Creek No. 7 mine, an
underground mining operation in the Campbell's Creek complex near Charleston, West Virginia.
Mountaineer Guardian Safety Awards are presented each year by
the West Virginia Coal Association to mining operations that

effective, comprehensive safety programs.
"We are honored to receive another Mountaineer Guardian Safety

award two years ago, as well. Clearly, each of our employees
at this mine fully embraces safety as a way of life," noted Patriot

dedicated employees for their on-going focus on safety across all
of our operations."
