Jan Nicholson Elected to Radian's Board of Directors PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Radian Group Inc. announced today that Jan Nicholson has been elected to the company's board of directors. Nicholson is president of The Grable Foundation, a charitable foundation based in Pittsburgh, Pa. dedicated to helping children and youth by improving their educational opportunities. From 1998 to 2000, she served as a managing director of MBIA, Inc., overseeing the portfolio risk management function and then strategic risk assessment, a process she developed for examining business risks based on industry and market trends. Nicholson led the development of a product optimization model for the asset-backed business, and designed the framework for a new risk rating system for the company's exposures. Nicholson also served as managing director of research and development for Capital Markets Assurance Corporation (CapMAC), a Citicorp financial guaranty subsidiary that had been spun off in a management buyout, was later taken public, and then acquired by MBIA. Prior to that, she served four years as manager of the Northeast Department for Citicorp Real Estate. This position followed three years at CapMAC when it was a subsidiary of Citicorp, and 12 years in other areas of Citicorp, as lending officer for the company's real estate industries division and then as vice president of the company's investment banking division. Nicholson began her career as a planner in the economic development section of the New York City Planning department. Nicholson earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from Duke University and a master's degree in urban planning from New York University. She also completed the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School.
