German car manufacturer Volkswagen AG (VOW.XE) Tuesday said US car sales of its namesake brand in June amounted to 38,170 vehicles, a 34% increase on the year.

MAIN FACTS:

-In January-June period, the brand sold 208,725 vehicles, up 35% on the year, making it the best first best half since 1973.

- Volkswagen sold 10,252 units of the Passat model and 11,598 units of the Jetta sedan.
