Chrysler Group Diversity Executive to Receive 'Women of Color' Lifetime Achievement Award

-- Many of America's leading women professionals will be honored at
the 11th annual "Women of Color" Technology and Business Awards
Conference on Saturday, October 21, in Atlanta. Monica E. Emerson,
Chrysler Group Executive Director - Corporate Diversity Offices, is
among that group and will receive the 2006 Lifetime Achievement
Award, one of the most coveted awards from "Women of Color." In her
role at Chrysler Group, Emerson is responsible for the overall
design, development and deployment of Chrysler Group's corporate
diversity strategies. This includes facilitating short and long
term strategies for implementing cultural change and determining
how the company leverages diversity for a competitive advantage
throughout its entire business enterprise. In addition, Emerson is
a founding member of the DaimlerChrysler African American Network
(DCAAN). She serves on the DCAAN Board of Directors and mentors
young professionals in the group, as well as other young people in
the company and community. "Monica has implemented a number of
programs to foster an inclusive work environment where all
employees can reach their fullest potential," said Nancy Rae,

living legacy to her commitment to diversity. She has led a
cultural transformation helping to enhance employee and leadership

bottom line." Emerson, a leader and a trailblazer in the field of
human resources for the past 30 years, has been a highly
sought-after speaker on diversity and has addressed audiences
worldwide including Stuttgart, Germany; Johannesburg, South Africa;
Seoul, South Korea; Barcelona, Spain; Vicenza, Italy; and
Stockholm, Sweden. Emerson has received several accolades including
the Presidential Diversity Award from the National Association of
Women Business Owners, a listing in the inaugural edition of the
"Who's Who in Black Detroit," the Women of Influence award from
African Americans on Wheels Magazine and Oakland University's
Odyssey Award for her contributions to building a diverse society.
In addition, she was recently inducted into the National Women's
Leadership Hall of Fame. Collectively, all of the awards highlight
and recognize Emerson's impact on a global and diverse society
within and outside of the automobile industry. She serves on
several national and local boards including Focus: HOPE, Catalyst
and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women. Emerson received her
Bachelor's degree from Oakland University and Graduate degrees from
Wayne State University and University of Michigan. The "Women of
Color" Technology Awards began in 1995. Since then, a woman of
