Air Liquide SA (AI.FR) said Wednesday that it has signed an agreement with China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (0386.HK), commonly known as Sinopec, to help build a hydrogen-powered transit network in China.

The French gas company said it will produce, store and distribute hydrogen for Sinopec to help accelerate the deployment of clean transport in China.

"This initiative represents an important milestone for hydrogen mobility in this major country, home to the largest automotive market in the world," said Benoit Potier, chairman and chief executive of Air Liquide, in prepared remarks.
