Johnson & Johnson will spend $100 million over the next five years to promote health equity for Black people and people of color in the U.S., the company said Tuesday.

The program will include efforts to diversify patients in clinical trials, extend scholarships to aspiring medical and science professionals and hiring more Black senior employees. The company said it aims to expand the number of Black workers at management levels and higher by 50% in the next five years.

The program will also include higher spending with Black- and Hispanic-owned businesses in Johnson & Johnson's supply chain, it said.
