On the preliminary results of "NAC "Kazatomprom" JSC operation
in the 1(st) quarter of 2012
In the first quarter of 2012 "NAC "Kazatomprom" JSC has carried
out the production program and reached the planned level of
operational indicators. Obligations over all contracts are
discharged in full.
According to the results of the first quarter of 2012 the
capacity of uranium mining in Kazakhstan amounted to 4666 tons,
that is almost 5% above the same period of the previous year.
Kazatomprom, taking into account the participatory interest in
subsidiary and dependant enterprises for 3 monthsproduced 2,656
tons of uranium that is 4% above the indicator of the first quarter
of 2011.
Consolidated turnover for the first quarter amounted to 51
billion tenge.
Total operational indicators for the "Ulba metallurgical plant"
JSC correspond to plan indicators. In comparison with the first
three months of last year, there is an increase in theproduction of
beryllium products by 32%, tantalum by 84%.
"MAEC-Kazatomprom" LLP for the consumers of Aktau city and
Mangistau region for three months of 2012 produced more than 1340
million kWh of electricity, 1054 thousands Gcal of thermal energy,
3.6 million cubic meters of distillate, including 2 million cubic
meters of drinking water. These figures exceed the level of the
last year's I quarter and fully comply with the production plans of
the Company.
In accordance with the development program of "NAC" Kazatomprom
" JSC in the I quarter continued the works on the strategic
directions of the Company's activity in the field of conversion,
enrichment and nuclear fuel production.
Kazatomprom efficiently develops new high-technological projects
in the field of rare and rare-earth metals and renewable
energy.
In particular, within the project on creation of photovoltaic
modules production based on Kazakhstan's silicon, in the first
quarter of 2012 was made the following:
-- Metallurgical plant "Kazsilikon" in Almaty region,
specializing on the production of silicon metal and high-quality
silicon has been launched. Shipment of the first production is
planned for late April.
-- Contracts and Agreements with the French companies CEIS, CEA,
ECM, SEMCO for the supply, installation and maintenance of the
equipment for the production of silicon wafers for the assembly
plant of photovoltaic modules in Astana have been signed.
-- Construction of assembly plant of photovoltaic modules in Astana is completed for 30%.
NAC Kazatomprom JSC is the national operator of the Republic of
Kazakhstan for export of uranium and its compounds, rare metals,
nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants, special purpose equipment,
technologies and double-use materials. The main activities of the
company are: geological exploration, uranium production,
manufacture of nuclear fuel cycle products, reactor construction,
nuclear power plants, production of construction materials, the
electric energy sector, scientific support of production and social
